Who Packed Your Parachute?

Charles Plumb was a US Navy jet pilot in Vietnam. After 75 combat missions, his plane was destroyed by a surface-to-air missile. Plumb ejected and parachuted into enemy hands. He was captured and spent 6 years in a communist Vietnamese prison. He survived the ordeal and now lectures on lessons learned from that experience!

One day, when Plumb and his wife were sitting in a restaurant, a man at another table came up and said, "You're Plumb! You flew jet fighters in Vietnam from the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk. You were shot down!"

"How in the world did you know that?" asked Plumb.

"I packed your parachute," the man replied. Plumb gasped in surprise and gratitude. The man pumped his hand and said, "I guess it worked!" Plumb assured him, "It sure did. If your chute hadn't worked, I wouldn't be here today."

Plumb couldn't sleep that night, thinking about that man. Plumb says, "I kept wondering what he had looked like in a Navy uniform: a white hat; a bib in the back; and bell-bottom trousers. I wonder how many times I might have seen him and not even said 'Good morning, how are you?' or anything because, you see, I was a fighter pilot and he was just a sailor." Plumb thought of the many hours the sailor had spent at a long wooden table in the bowels of the ship, carefully weaving the shrouds and folding the silks of each chute, holding in his hands each time the fate of someone he didn't know.

Now, Plumb asks his audience, "Who's packing your parachute?" Everyone has someone who provides what they need to make it through the day. He also points out that he needed many kinds of parachutes when his plane was shot down over enemy territory - he needed his physical parachute, his mental parachute, his emotional parachute, and his spiritual parachute. He called on all these supports before reaching safety.

Sometimes in the daily challenges that life gives us, we miss what is really important. We may fail to say hello, please, or thank you, congratulate someone on something wonderful that has happened to them, give a compliment, or just do something nice for no reason. As you go through this week, this month, this year, recognize people who pack your parachutes.

The 30 Second Quiz...!

Don't bother getting a pen and paper... just read... if you can't
answer them, just keep going.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remembers the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They're the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Now here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. Name three teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worth while.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

Easier?

The lesson?

* The people who make a difference in your life aren't the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They're the ones who care.

Excellence Is In Our Eyes ...

A German once visited a temple under construction where he saw a sculptor making an idol of God. Suddenly he noticed a similar idol lying nearby. Surprised, he asked the sculptor, "Do you need two statues of the same idol?" "No," said the sculptor without looking up, "We need only one, but the first one got damaged at the last stage."
The gentleman examined the idol and found no apparent damage. "Where is the damage?" he asked. "There is a scratch on the nose of the idol." said the sculptor, still busy with his work. "Where are you going to install the idol?"
The sculptor replied that it would be installed on a pillar twenty feet high. "If the idol is that far, who is going to know that there is a scratch on the nose?" the gentleman asked. The sculptor stopped his work, looked up at the gentleman, smiled and said, "I will know it."

The desire to excel is exclusive of the fact whether someone else appreciates it or not. "Excellence" is a drive from inside, not outside. Excellence is not for someone else to notice but for your own satisfaction and efficiency. One can fake perfection in front of others, but the truth will never give him satisfaction.

Don't Screw Your Thoughts Because of English ....

Hey Friends,
Below, I am going to put two compositions by a guy. He is a good poet and a horror story lover. I told him to write his thoughts on a paper. As he had a weak tongue in English, but a great control over Hindi he gave me two gems. Okay, first you enjoy them and then I will tell you what I want to say. I am putting them exactly in the way he did, word to word same......

1. The English one is a horror story.

Apartment of terror

This is a story of my school times . In the back of my apartment , there is a another  apartment which is very old . no one can live in old apartment .Many stories were linked with this apartment. I don't know. One day
my friends challenge me to go the old apartment . I ready but they told me to in night . At night my friends and i was ready to go to the apartment . There was fence which is covered the apartment . we cut the fence wire and enter the apartment . After sometimes i saw a shadow on the wall .But i don't tell my friend . we were 4 friends at this time and we have 3 torch . Then we reached to the 1st floor . my friend open the door of the flat ,there is a darkness in the room ,we hear the some sound which is come from another room of the flat . the sound is like a woman cry .

we were scare at that time my hands and legs were also shiver at that time . Our prediction was right .a woman about 30 years were sit on the supported wall of the flat . i said to the woman why are you crying . she indicated her finger towards roof when we turned toward the roof a man hanged on the roof.we were all shouted and saw the woman .The woman is now smiling .we all run towards the stairs of 2nd floor and opened the flat door and entered and closed the door so she not entered the room .i suppose we are save now .i moved my torch towards the room . My friend saw a girl which is stand in the dark .

my friend said to me see that girl . the girl face towards the wall .I told the girl please turn your face. but i did not turn then we shout and said turn your face .Then she turn not her face but the whole head . I trying to open the door because she came towards us. we were shouted then the watchman open the door.the girl was now disappeared.the watchman asked to me what are you doing here. then we came at the ground floor. the watchman told me that the evil spirit lived in this apartment and please not come here again.i ask the question to the watchman what is done at 1st floor ,he say that.

2. The Hindi one is a Poem.

Sardiyon Ki Barsaat
Poos ka mahina,
para zameen mein dhasa hua,
dhundh mein har ushma dikhti
dhua si...
Raat ke andhere mein,
shashi ravi ki roshni mein naha raha,
chamak raha...

Aur uski roshni mein dharti dubi.
Sadakein suni poori raat ke liye,
reh reh kar ghata chha gyi,
hava bhi thak kar kuch der ,
bhul gyi behna...

Uss sannate mein,
chaand ki roshni kam karte megh aaye...
aur phir bina aawaz kiye,
ek ek boond barsane lage.
Kuch boondein hawa mein jami,
kuch jameen par...

Aaj meri dost bhi udaas hai
koi gam use khidki par taktaki
 lagane par majboor karega,
uske aansoo bhi jame honge,
kuch chehre par aankho par...

Shayad aasma bhi koi gam dabaye baitha tha,
meri dost ko dekh wo bhi khud ko rok na saka...
Dono dekh rahe honge ek doosre ko.
Shayad aasma ke saamne,
khud ko chchota samajh rahi hogi aur chup ho gayi hogi.
Badal bhi chale gaye hai,
chaand ko uski roshni dete hue...
Ab meri dost ki aankhe bhi chamak rahi hongi,
jo muhse chamakti hai ...!!

I am damn sure that you have enjoyed both. Both are touching as English one must have touched your abdomen, laughing and hindi one to your heart. I am not making fun of him or his composition. Just want to say that if he got the potential to write wonders in Hindi then what is the need of screwing his thoughts in English. Guys just don't sit like a dumb where you are now rather start giving physical shape to your thoughts and side by side try to work upon your weak points. Because a thought lost is lost forever and a thought written is forever.
